Baskets of Hope

Starting 27 Apr 2024 - Closing 31 Jul 2021

The ongoing COVID19 pandemic in the world has subjected many government structures and institutional capacities to extreme pressure. Kenya is not an exemption.  Consequently, several prohibitive measures have been placed to contain the spread of COVID19 and which have affected thousands of households and small medium enterprises across the Archdiocese of Nairobi.  Many households in informal settlements and peri-urbans areas have been affected and are on verge of serious socio-economic catastrophe as well as acute nutritional related problems due to food shortages.  Several market places and sources of income have been closed, therefore, subjecting many households to lack of alternative sources of daily meals due to meagre disposable incomeIt is with this background, that Caritas Nairobi has initiated this appeal to cushion unprecedented socioeconomic challenges to many vulnerable households in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.  This appeal is to request all people of good will to send financial as well as in kind support to be distributed to all vulnerable households in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.

Caritas Nairobi will distribute Caritas Nairobi Baskets of Hope that will contain both food and non-food items. Each kit will contain Maize, Porridge and wheat flour, cooking oil, grains (rice), beans/ndengu, salt, long-life milk and bar soaps. In order to minimize crowding and collection logistics, Caritas Nairobi is preferring Cash donation which will make it easy to plan with the supermarkets and other distributors to prepare the Caritas Nairobi Baskets of Hope.  Please for in kind donation reach out to our office through 0788843955.
