GENERAL MANAGER: RUIRU CATHOLIC CHURCH MEMBERS DEVELOPMENT FUND (RCCMDF)

RCCMDF is one of the largest Self Help Groups in the Archdiocese of Nairobi Self Help Programme by Caritas Nairobi. In operation for over 20 yrs and with a membership of 20,000 and 13 staff members, RCCMDF provides community savings and lending services to the immediate parish and beyond. RCCMDF is looking to fill the position of General Manager to oversee the day to day running, growth and development of the group to serve its members in the most efficient manner.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position ensures the efficient daily operation of the Self-help Group facility, including sales and marketing, customer service, and security and safety in accordance with the Groups objectives. Develops savings and loan business; provides superior customer service and promotes a sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation. Provides leadership, training and supervision to all staff.

KEY DUTIES & PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the strategic growth and day to day operational functions of the group.
  • Ensure the creation and implementation of a strategy designed to grow the business.
  • Provide direct management of key functional managers and executives in the group.
  • Oversee key hiring and talent development programs.
  • Communicate strategy and results to the group's employees
  • Engage with the board in broader organizational strategic planning.
  • Perform such roles within the board of management as defined by the board operations manual.
  • Report key results to the board and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain quality services by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Approve Member and bank transactions within authority limits.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff regarding service expectations, policies, procedures, products, systems and banking transactions.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings focused on sales, service and product training.
  • Prepare staff performance appraisals and disciplinary notices as needed.
  • Ensure audit controls are followed to protect the group from unnecessary risk and exposure.
  • Support compliance with regulatory guidelines including Self-help Programme Guidelines
  • Participate in community organizations and activities to enhance the group’s image and develop additional business and referral sources.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to effectively resolve Member and employee issues.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities. Able to build morale and commitment to goals and objectives.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills required to manage, motivate, and develop employees.

  • Proactively seeks solutions that benefit the Member and the group while exhibiting sound and accurate judgement.
  • Knowledge of banking services.
  • Detail oriented, strong organization skills and a high degree of accuracy with the ability to work independently.

WORK EXPERIENCE OR RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SACCO, banking or microfinance bank operations.
  • Bachelors Degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field.
  • 35 to 40 yrs old
  • Proven business development skills.
  • Prior managerial experience.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills are key to this position. Ability to interact effectively with clients and other internal departments is required. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team is required.

FINANCE AND INVESTMENT MANAGER

POSITION: FINANCE AND INVESTMENT MANAGER

1.    Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and adhere to Caritas Nairobi financial policies and procedures including the donor regulations and guidelines to ensure that the Finance department functions in an efficient and well-organized manner.
  • Investment portfolio management
  • Ensure preparation of accurate and timely monthly (donor and internal) reports and supervision of day-to day financial operations.
  • Be focal point for compliance with the Kenyan accountancy, tax and financial regulations.
  • Provide essential support and backstopping to Administration and Programme departments, as well as knowledge-sharing and capacity- building of other team-members

2.    Job Profile

  • Ensure application and respect of all Caritas Nairobi administrative and financial rules and procedures
  • As per need develop internal policies to ensure the good implementation of Caritas Nairobi rules and procedures, respecting donor rules, the Kenyan legislation and general good accountancy practices
  • Ensure the good use of funds according to Caritas Nairobi and donor guidelines
  • Analysis of investment opportunities including financial modelling, valuation and return analysis;
  • Market and industry research; Due diligence on companies, management, customers, competitors and industries;
  • Ensure financial support and constant communication toward concerned departments and budget holders about budget planning, cost allocation, financial monitoring, etc
  • Produce financial reports for the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and programme heads as required.
  • Centralize information for building donor budgets proposal
  • Participate in the definition of yearly budgets.
  • Ensure the management of the team placed under your responsibility
  • Consistently build the capacity of the finance team.
  • Implement administrative and financial monitoring tools.
  • Prepare audit when relevant / supervise the audits carried out.

3.    Person Profile

3.1    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • CPA

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of experience
  • Experience with investment fund management: Strong financial, modelling and business analysis skills as demonstrated by prior experience is required
  • Accounting experience is preferred but not required
  • Analytical, logical, and methodical
  • Ability to interact with Senior Level Management
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Able to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines

ICT COORDINATOR

POSITION: ICT COORDINATOR

1. Key Responsibilities

The ICT Coordinator is responsible for the management of the organisations ICT services and infrastructure. Design and manage the implementation of software applications especially to support savings and lending Self Help Groups in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.

1.1    Primary Duties and Responsibilities     

  • Support Archdiocese of Nairobi Self Help Groups in the ongoing enhancements of software applications to enable staff and members access to secure information and functionality in alignment with business and ICT strategic directions
  • Lead the Application Implementation Program
  • Proactively lead discussions with key staff regarding ICT workflow opportunities

2.   Job Profile

  • Provide overall leadership and administration of the ICT office at Caritas Nairobi in its software implementation and support within Self Help Groups.
  • Manage any third party supplier of application software to provide the best value and outcomes for the organisation
  • Provide support, system support for applications in a real-time context
  • Support after-hours application batch runs, upgrades & preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Provide professional advice to the Director on new requirements and business cases for software applications
  • Mentor process and efficiency improvements within the ICT Team
  • Ensure that staff are adequately trained to perform their allocated duties
  • Co-ordinate Key Performance Indicator reports and report on the ICT Team performance
  • Management of the ICT budget

3.    Person Profile

3.1  Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar field
  • Over 5 years’ experience with responsibility for application selection and procurement, leading project teams involved in software development, implementation and customisation
  • Sound knowledge of Business Analysis fundamentals, including strong experience in conducting requirements gathering.
  • Experience in the management of projects, using formal methodologies
  • Experience in delivering services to a geographically diverse organisation
  • Detailed Experience in the creation of policies, procedures and work practices regarding systems development life cycle (SDLC) services within an organisation
  • Experience managing vendor contracts, including the monitoring of service level agreements
  • Strong dedication to customer service
  • Highly developed strategic thinking
  • Effective relationship building and influencing skills
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Contemporary leadership skills

3.2    Personal Qualities
